TUI & Jet2 updates on holiday credit notes

FLIGHTS have been heavily impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions.

Many offered credit vouchers to customers hit with cancellations.

Now, some of these have been amended. What are the latest updates?

Airlines found themselves at the centre of the coronavirus pandemic.

With travel restrictions one of the key ways Government’s tried to contain the spread of the virus.

Throughout the last year, airlines have offered credit notes for holidaymakers who wish to rebook their travel at a later time.

Recently, some airlines and travel providers have made changes to the terms and conditions of these credit notes. News Benidorm.

Some have further extended the time in which vouchers can be used.

Currently, this spans right up until September 2022.

The airline clarified flights do not need to depart prior to the voucher running out, but flights must be booked before this time.

Customers can also select a different journey to their previous holiday, however, if a flight costs more they will have to pay the difference.

Passengers do not need to do anything to get the extension, and easyJet says it will contact those impacted.

Customers are also entitled to a full refund if their flights or holiday are cancelled.

British Airways

British Airways (BA) is allowing customers to cancel their booking if they decide they no longer want to travel.

“If you decide you no longer want to travel, you can cancel your booking and we’ll give you a voucher to the same value for a future booking,” reads a statement on the BA website.

Customers can also change the dates of their booking free of charge but will have to pay the difference if the new flights are more expensive.

Customers are entitled to a full refund if the airline cancels their flight.

Currently, vouchers issued by BA are valid until April 30, 2023.

BA explains: “Your voucher can be used as payment, or part-payment, for a new future booking.

Your new trip booked using your voucher must be fully completed by 30 April 2023 (departure and return).

“If you have an existing voucher with an expiry date prior to 30 April 2023, please note that your voucher will automatically be extended to 30 April 2023.

“Customers will be notified with new voucher details as soon as possible.”

Ryanair

Ryanair is offering refund credit notes to customers who no longer wish to travel.

The vouchers, which have a 12-month limit, have since been extended up until the end of December 2021.

The Irish airline said: “In response to customer demand, Ryanair travel vouchers (from COVID-19 cancellations) have been automatically extended allowing customers to book Ryanair flights up until December 2021.”

Customers who have had their flight cancelled by the airline are entitled to a full refund.

TUI

TUI has stopped issuing credit notes and is instead offering cash refunds to all customers impacted by cancellations.

However, customers who were previously given a voucher have until the end of September 2021 to book their holiday.

Their holiday does not need to be taken by this time.

Passengers will be able to book trips up to October 31, 2022.

If vouchers are not used before September 2021, customers will then be automatically issued with a cash refund of the amount paid.

Customers can also contact the airline directly to request a refund if they decide a refund credit note is not desirable.

“The refund credit is valid as soon as you receive it and is issued to you if your holiday will no longer be able to go ahead as planned.

Due to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office’s advice against travel, or due to other restrictions,” explains the TUI website.

“Your refund credit note expires on 30 September 2021, after which point, if you’ve not used it, you’ll automatically receive a cash refund from us. Express.co.uk
